BBC Radio 4 Sunday Worship: Remembering Nelson Mandela

With live link to Christ the King, Sophiatown, South Africa.

We give thanks for the life of Nelson Mandela, standing alongside the people of South Africa and with all who have longed for light in troubled times and hope for our world.  Led by the Revd Dr Sam Wells, Vicar of St Martin’s.

The preacher will be the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby. Music from the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion will be reading  his poem ‘To Nelson Mandela: a Tribute’.

Please join us in church at 7.45am to be part of the live service or join us listening live on BBC Radio 4 at 8.10am.  All are welcome to join us.

The Café in the Crypt will be open from 7.00am serving tea, coffee and pastries. The Dick Sheppard Chapel is open in the lower Crypt for anyone seeking a quiet space for prayer and reflection.

Read ‘On the death of Nelson Mandela‘, a short reflection and prayers written by vicar of St Martin’s, Revd Dr Sam Wells.
