Tredici exists to perform some of the greatest sacred music ever written to the highest possible standard. The choir is resident at St Giles in the Fields in Holborn. Its association with this beautiful 1734 Henry Flitcroft-designed church dates back to the choir’s formation, in 2004, when Richard Thomas was invited to put together a group of singers for the Leprosy Mission’s annual carol service. There were 13 singers at that first event – hence the name.
Over the past seven years the choir’s membership has evolved into the current group of 32 – all of whom are experienced singers drawn from a variety of leading London choirs including the Philharmonia Chorus, BBC Symphony Chorus and London Symphony Chorus. Its wide repertoire encompasses sacred music from the 16th to the 21st centuries and past concerts have featured masterpieces by such renowned composers as Monteverdi, de Padilla, Guerrero, Victoria, Tallis, Purcell, and Byrd through to Howells, Rachmaninov, Britten, Tavener and MacMillan.
