Dan Marginean was born in Romania where he also began studying piano at the age of ten. He graduated from RCM with Distinction in July 2012 where his teachers included Niel Immelman and Elizabeth Burley. Last may, Dan was offered a Swiss Governmental Scholarship to continue his Masters studies at Haute École de Musique, Lausanne under the guidance of Professor Jean-François Antonioli.
He has performed at The Romanian Athenaeum, Radio Hall in Cluj-Napoca and given concerts in Italy, Poland and throughout UK, some of which broadcasted live. He also took part in Master Classes around Europe with professors such as Paul Badura-Skoda, Kevin Kenner, Barry Douglas, Peter Donohoe just to mention a few.
In 2011-2012 Dan played in Lang Lang Inspires Mass Concert, at Royal Festival Hall, performed recitals in St. James’s Picadilly, St.Martin-in-the-Fileds, Steinway Hall, London, and was given offers to play other solo recitals in UK, Switzerland and Romania.
Dan also holds the keyboard chair of the “Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra” and often performs at the Romanian Cultural Institute, London. He is an active chamber musician and recently won the accompanist prize in RCM’s Schumann Song Competition and Lions Club Competition for cello and piano in Germany.
