Covent Garden Sinfonia is firmly established as one of London’s most dynamic and versatile chamber orchestras. Under the baton of Artistic Director Ben Palmer, since 2007 the orchestra has been developing a reputation for imaginative programming and exciting, stylish performances. Resident at the famous Actors’ Church, St Paul’s in Covent Garden, the orchestra performs regularly at London’s leading concert venues, including Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room, St John’s Smith Square, Cadogan Hall and Milton Court.

Covent Garden Sinfonia is one of the UK’s foremost orchestras specialising in the performance of music live to film, with recent screenings including Psycho, Casablanca, The Gold Rush (and other Chaplin shorts), Peter and the Wolf, The Snowman, and the world premiere of Neil Brand’s score for Hitchcock’s The Lodger. The 2017/18 season includes E.T. the Extra Terrestrial at the Royal Festival Hall, screenings of new silent film London Symphony at the Barbican Cinema and other venues across London, and Hitchcock’s The Lodger at CineCity, the Brighton Film Festival.

Artistic Director Ben Palmer is Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, and in demand as a guest conductor with groups such as the BBC Singers, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, Southbank Sinfonia and the London Mozart Players. He has made a particularly speciality of conducting films live to screen; forthcoming performances include Raiders of the Lost Ark in Prague and Bristol, a UK tour of Jaws (both with CNSO), and Home Alone at Sage Gateshead.
