Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra
The London-based Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra is currently in its eighth year, and has received critical acclaim for performances supporting today’s young generation soloists and musicians. The NLSO is unique in that it specialises in repertoire drawn from composers born within the area of the Northern Lights, including Scandinavia, Canada, Iceland, Scotland, Estonia and northern Russia.
They have already attracted other Honorary Patrons Joanna Lumley OBE and Jonathan Pryce CBE – who named us his “Discovery of the Year 2009″ (Daily Telegraph). They are honoured to be the Orchestra in Association with The Sibelius Society UK, and have a growing audience of all ages. The NLSO have attracted some of the finest soloists on todays platform including Emma Johnson MBE, Jamie Walton, Jack Liebeck, Martin Roscoe, Johann Tilli to name a few.
Adam Johnson is one of the most versatile and exciting young musicians to have founded his own orchestra in recent years. The Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra, of which he is both Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, has attracted the attention of concert-goers in London since its formation in 2007 (‘Thrilling’ Classical Source 2011). Unique among the outstanding artists of his generation, Johnson is as equally at home conducting opera as he is fulfilling the role of soloist in concerto repertoire, playing chamber music, or directing his own large-scale compositions.
