Ivor Setterfield has performed at all the major London venues conducting prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the City of London Sinfonia, the London Mozart Players and the Hanover Band.
In 2006 Ivor appeared in his own documentary series on Channel Five, The Singing Estate, which was nominated for the prestigious Rose d’Or award, and in 2008 he appeared in the BBC2 programme Maestro as mentor to Drum & Bass DJ Goldie. Ivor again mentored Goldie in 2009 as he composed a classical piece on the theme of ‘evolution’ for the Family Prom, with this composition journey shown on BBC2. Other television appearances include 10 Best Choral Masterpieces on BBC4, The Richard & Judy Show, The Wright Show on Five and the BBC One Show.
Barts Chamber Choir is an offshoot of Barts Choir. Barts Choir was founded by a group of nurses at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1965. It has since evolved into one of London’s most popular performance groups and possibly its largest choir, with approximately 350 regular singers.
Barts Chamber Choir was formed in 2004 in order to give selected members of Barts Choir, independently of the main concert programme, the opportunity to sing a challenging repertoire in more intimate venues. Following its inaugural performance of Mozart’s Requiem at St Martin-in-the- Fields and subsequently at the Rudolfinum in Prague, it has continued to work with Ivor Setterfield in the presentation of a varied programme of chamber music, including Rachmaninov Vespers, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, Vivaldi Gloria, and Bach’s St John Passion.
