Lily Whitehurst is a violinist from Tenby, Pembrokeshire. She currently studies at the RNCM with Yossi Zivoni as recipient of the Gough Kelly Award.
She has played with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Halle, Manchester Camerata, English National Ballet, Northern Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Cymru and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Lily is a member of the Gaskell String Quartet who recently received first place in the RNCM Schubert Prize and Hirsch Prize and made their Radio 3 debut. Lily has also enjoyed working with artists including Akram Khan, Bryn Terfell and Sting.
Lily is the winner of the Cowen Violin Prize, Phillip Newman Violin Prize, Dyfed Young Musician of the Year and the Bulgin Medal awarded by the Worshipful Society of Musicians. She has been broadcast on BBC Songs of Praise, S4C, BBC Radio Foyle and on BBC Radio Wales as soloist with BBCNOW.
Hayley Parkes began studying the piano at the age of 9 and went on to gain a place at Chetham’s when she was 11. She has appeared at the Bridgewater Hall, The Sage, Gateshead and on BBC Radio and well as performances at BBC Proms and at the Royal Festival Hall.
She has competed in the BBC Young Musician of the Year Category Final, won first prize at the Beethoven Junior Intercollegiate Piano Competition and was twice winner of the EPTA UK piano competition. She is the recipient of various awards including The Vernon Farley Piano Prize, The Peter Donohoe Prize and has won The Marjorie Pennington Prize for Accompaniment and The James Oncken Song Prize for Accompanist. As an orchestral pianist Hayley has appeared at venues across the country under Edward Gardner, Sir Mark Elder, Paul Mann & En Shao.
