Orpheus Leander Papafilippou Violin
Orpheus enjoys performing as a soloist, chamber musician and ensemble leader in Europe, Asia,
Africa and the Americas. Music as a language is so rich and deeply rewarding that every day is a
treasure chest of further discovery. He is the artistic director of the Music of the Spheres Ensemble
High points including performing Mozart’s 5th violin concerto with the Music of the Spheres
Ensemble at St Martin in the Fields, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in St James Piccadilly,
performing as solo tango violinist for the Balletboyz Greatest Hits performances in the Queen
Elizabeth Hall and recital tours of China and Europe.
With the Music of the Spheres Ensemble his performances include Beethoven Violin Concerto,
Bruch Violin Concerto No 1 and recently making his Austrian debut performing Vaughan Williams
‘The Lark Ascending’ in Vienna.
Orpheus is passionate about period performance and regularly performers with acclaimed
harpsichordist and director Bridget Cunningham.
As the leader of the Orfeas String Quartet he has given premiers of works by Aziza Sadikova, Denise
Mangiardi and Amir Sadeghi Konjani to name but a few.
Orpheus has composed and performed music for several Theatre productions both on and off
London’s West End, including Ocean of Loneliness by Aaron Anthony Wallace at the Tristan Bates
Theatre and Lost Theatre.
