Tredici Chamber Choir
Richard Thomas Conductor
Tredici is resident at St Giles-in-the-Fields in Holborn. Our association with this church dates back to the choir’s formation, in 2004, when Richard Thomas was invited to put together a group of singers for a special carol service. There were 13 singers at that first event – hence the name.
Over the past 13 years the choir’s membership has evolved into the current group of around 35 – all of whom are experienced singers drawn from a variety of leading London choirs including the Philharmonia Chorus, BBC Symphony Chorus and London Symphony Chorus.
Richard Thomas‘s love of sacred music was born whilst a chorister at Westminster Cathedral. He studied for his BMus degree at University College Cardiff shortly after which he secured a job in the marketing department of the Philharmonia Orchestra. Later he was appointed Head of Marketing at Rhinegold Publishing where he was responsible for the successful launch of magazines such as The Singer, Piano and Early Music Today. Richard is currently Head of Licensing at International Theatre & Music and handles marketing and administration for the Orpheus Sinfonia Foundation.
Richard was a member of The Philharmonia Chorus for more than 15 years and served as Chairman from 1999-2002. He was appointed Musical Director of St Matthew’s Church, Ealing Common in September 2005 after 15 years as a singer in the church. In 2009 he attained a Diploma in Choral Conducting from the Association of British Choral Directors. In January 2016 he was also appointed Musical Director of Sine Nomine Singers.
