Anna Quiroga Harp
Valentina Scheldhofen Ciardelli was initially a pianist, and she started to study double bass with Gabriele Ragghianti in 2010, graduating with Honours from the “Istituto Musicale L. Boccherini” in Lucca in October 2014 and from the Royal College of Music in July 2016. Valentina also concentrated on composition, graduating in March 2014 with Honours. She has won several awards and prizes such as the “Riviera of Versilia” competition and the “Fortunato Magi” scholarship, both in 2014, and she was a finalist in important national and international competitions of importance such as the “Migliori Diplomati D’Italia” (best young Italian music graduate) 2015 and “Double bass international competition Galicia Garcia Graves”. In June 2016 she took first prize in the “RCM double bass competition. She has been a member of the Orchestra Filarmonica Pucciniana for the Torre del Lago Puccini Summer Festival since 2014. She recently gave solo performances with “I solisti veneti” with Maestro Claudio Scimone and won the prestigious scholarship granted by this Academy (Proliber). Recently, Valentina was invited to play in the german world wide Zappa music festival Zappanale 2017, with her duo “The Untouchables”. She is generously supported by a Talented Unlimited Charity. Currently, she has been awarded a one-year scholarship at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London, to continue her advanced studies and, in addition, she has won a scholarship from the “Animando” music association in Lucca for a research project investigating the music of Giacomo Puccini’s ancestors.
Anna Quiroga has recently graduated with an Artist Diploma with honours from the RCM, where she studied with Ieuan Jones. While studying at the RCM, Anna has been generously supported by the Stanley Picker Award, the Agustí Pedro i Pons Foundation Scholarship and the Leverhulme Award. She is currently being kindly supported by the musical charity Talent Unlimited. Anna has collaborated with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the HSCO Hulencourt Orchestra. She has toured Spain as a winner of the Concurso Permanente de Juventudes Musicales de España and participated in music festivals and projects including the ‘Festival Internacional d’ Arpa de Sentmenat’ and the ‘Soundings’ project. She has taken part in diverse RCM Symphony Orchestra projects with Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Roger Norrington, Bernard Haitink, Jean-Philippe Calvin, Kenneth Hesketh, Brett Dean and James Ledger. Anna has a wide experience in chamber music and Orchestral repertoire too but she is actually focusing on solo performances.
