Yi Lin Jiang Piano

Highly praised by the world’s leading magazine Gramophone as an artist with “both nerve and
unusual pianistic assurance”, the young rising star Yi Lin Jiang immediately caught the international music world’s attention with the release of his debut album “Masques”. The Polish Radio calls the CD “a collage of various colours and emotions”, the French magazine Diapason attests a “gesture carried with pride” to his playing, and the BR-Klassik recommends this original record as “a promising portrait of a young pianist”. The Australian Limelight Magazine defines him as “an impressive new kid on the block, prodigiously talented with consummate technique and dash.”

The Shanghai pianist Yi Lin Jiang was born 1988 in Munich and received his first piano lessons at the age of six. One year later, he already won his first piano competition. From 2005-2012, he studied with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling in Salzburg and Hanover, since then with Ewa Kupiec, currently in the solo performance class and being her assistant at the same time. The Young Steinway Artist performs in renowned venues including the Hercules Hall and the Cuvilliés Theatre of the Munich Residence, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. He collaborates with many orchestras including the Südwestfalen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swabian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Young Munich Philharmonic Orchestra as well as with notable conductors including Allan Bergius, Carlos Domínguez-Nieto, Raphael von Hoensbroech, Alexandra Helldorff and Massimiliano Caldi. In 2015, he became the artistic director of the Munich Pianists Association. He accepted the invitation to serve as the youngest jury member for the China Youth Music Competition by joining the judging board in 2016. His debut album “Masques” (Solaris Records) received critical acclaim, worldwide radio airplay and was rewarded with a nomination for the prestigious German Record Critics’ Award.
