Ilya Tauber Piano
Richard Ilya Tauber was born in 1976 in St. Petersburg, and completed university studies in piano (with Prof. Vladimir Nilson) and conducting (with Professor Ilya Musin) in St. Petersburg. In 1993, his conducting studies led him to the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Professor Michael Gielen where he graduated in 1995. Further studies led him to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he graduated in 2006.
Appearances at various prestigious summer academies and master classes followed, as well as Academia Chigiana with Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti, International Summer Music Academy Mozarteum with Prof. Dmitri Bashkirov, Lucern Festival Academy with Maestro Pierre Boulez, Campus Internazionale di Musica in Elisso Virsaladze, semi-finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London.
Mr. Tauber received stipends such as the Alban-Berg-Stiftung, continued support from the Viennese Piano manufacturer Bösendorfer under the precept of being an Extraordinary Talent.
As a pianist and chamber musician, he attended numerous concerts in various prestigious venues such as the Wiener Musikverein, Konzerthaus Vienna, Leiszhalle Hamburg, Rudolfinum in Prague, Wigmore Hall in London, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow.
As a conductor and accompanist he took over the musical direction or participated in productions in various opera houses: Hamburg State Opera, Vienna Volksoper, Theater St. Gallen, Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm, and opera festivals: Tenerife Opera Festival, Opera Festival Rheinberg, Bregenz Festival. Symphonic concerts with orchestras such as the Vienna RSO, Mozarteum Orchestra, LSO London.
