FREE Lunchtime Concert: St Martin’s Voices
Sound of St Martin’s Series
Join members of St Martin’s Voices in a sublime programme of music by English composer Henry Purcell.
St Martin’s Voices is a professional vocal ensemble, primarily made up of talented past and present choral scholars who come together to sing world-class concerts and special services at St Martin-in-the-Fields and beyond. Recent concert highlights have included Bach’s Motets and St John Passion, Handel’s Messiah and Fauré’s Requiem. St Martin’s Voices have recorded Christmas in Blue, a CD of jazz carols arranged by celebrated composer Will Todd, and are regularly broadcast on the BBC, including Radio 3 Choral Evensong, Radio 4 Daily Service and Sunday Worship. In May 2015, they were privileged to perform at the Cenotaph for the 70th anniversary of VE day, and this was followed by singing live on BBC1 for the VJ day commemorations in August 2015, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen.
As well as their extensive concert and broadcasting programme, St Martin’s Voices explore the great classical music of our religious heritage at Great Sacred Music, a free event every Thursday at 1pm. Great Sacred Music is also available as a podcast at www.smitf.org/GSMonline.
Lunchtime Concerts are FREE, with a suggested donation of £3.50 which goes towards the work of St Martin’s
