Brandenburg Sinfonia and Whitehall Choir

From its origins as a lunchtime madrigal group in the Board of Trade during the Second World War, the Whitehall Choir has developed into a notable presence on the London music scene. The choir has a varied repertoire, and under the direction of Paul Spicer, brings both intelligence and understanding to its performances. The Choir recently released its first CD, recorded with the Brandenburg Sinfonia, containing a sensitive pairing of Bruckner’s Mass in E minor and Paul Spicer’s composition The Deciduous Cross. Organists’ Review hails the recording as “music-making of substance and quality”, while The Bruckner Journal relishes the “superbly integrated choral sound…definitely recommended”. The Brandenburg Sinfonia is one of the most dynamically versatile musical organisations in the country. In recent years the orchestra, under the artistry of director Robert Porter, has performed in the majority of the major venues across the country, and in London.
