Rachmaninov - Vespers

Neil Ferris
Conductor

Composed and premiered in 1915, the 'Vespers' consists of settings of texts taken from Russian Orthodox 'All Night Vigil' ceremony. One of the composer's favourite compositions, 'Vespers' is an enduring favourite with audiences accross the world. The moving melody and rich polyphony are ideally suited to the wonderful accoustic of a candlelit St Martin-in-the-Fields.
