Christ Grist and Anna-Liisa Bezrodny

Anna-Liisa Bezrodny was born in 1981 into a famous family of musicians in Moscow. At the age of two she began her violin studies with her parents, and at the age of nine she entered the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, to the class of her parents, Prof. Igor Bezrodny and Prof. Mari Tampere-Bezrodny, later studying for MMus degrees in both the Sibelius Academy and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Anna-Liisa has succeeded in many competitions and in 2006 she won the prestigious Guildhall Gold Medal, the same competition which has been won by Bryn Terfel, Tasmin Little and Jacqueline du Pre. Anna-Liisa currently holds the prestigious Leverhulme Fellowship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Over the last 10 years Anna-Liisa has collaborated with maestros such as Leif Segerstam, Eri Klas, Sian Edwards, Nikolay Alekseyev, Jason Lai, Robin O'Neil, Arvo Volmer, Paul Magi, Juha Kangas etc, and she plays extensively with the renowned pianist Ivari Ilja.

As a soloist Anna-Liisa has appeared with orchestras such as the Moscow Symphony Orchestra TV6, Helsinki Philharmonic, Estonian National Orchestra, Estonian Chamber Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia), Vilnius Philharmonic (Lithuania), Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia and London Ensemble (at Wigmore Hall, playing a world premiere of a solo piece).

Anna-Liisa has performed on several occasions on Finnish and Estonian National TV and National Radio, Performance Channel, NBC, Classic FM and BBC Radio 3.

Chris Grist, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has since had an exceedingly varied career performing throughout the UK and Europe as orchestral musician, chamber musician and recitalist. As a chamber musician, Chris is cellist and founding member of Metamorphosis chamber group and principal cellist of London Concertante. He has performed throughout the country as soloist and chamber musician.

In London, Chris has performed concertos and recitals at the Barbican Centre, South Bank, St James' Piccadilly, St Martin-in-the-Fields as well as at Music Clubs and Festivals throughout the UK. As a soloist, Chris has performed in France, Spain, Germany, USA and Chile. Chris is also a member of ZUM - the gypsy-tango band.
