Music St Martin – Listen and enjoy

At St Martin-in-the-Fields, we are proud of the vocal ensembles that are nurtured within our walls.

St Martin’s Voices Fellowship Scheme – February to July 2017

St Martin-in-the-Fields is delighted to announce its inaugural St Martin’s Voices Fellowship Scheme. The Fellowship scheme provides an opportunity for six singers to enjoy an intensive, focused period of training with others of a similar standard and interests and is an integral part of the exciting choral music programme at St Martin-in-the-Fields. The scheme is aimed at choral singers who have held choral scholarships or similar at university and elsewhere, are in the first stage of a professional career in singing, and wish to develop their skills as choral and consort singers to a high level.

Alongside working with Andrew Earis, Director of Music at St Martin’s, the Fellows will work with other leading choral directors, receive vocal coaching, and perform with ensembles including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Southbank Sinfonia and St Martin’s Baroque Players, our new professional baroque ensemble. The scheme also includes a tour to Minneapolis and Washington DC. The singers will generally perform as a stand-alone ensemble of six singers, however, they will sometimes join with other members of St Martin’s Voices for larger scale repertoire.

We are launching the scheme with a six month programme running from February to July 2017, during which time there will be seven projects.

For further details, and how to apply, please read the information document below. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 29th November at 12 noon.

The Choirs of St Martin’s

In recent years the output of St Martin’s in-house music-making has grown enormously. Alongside our longstanding choral ensembles, the Choir, Choral Scholars and Occasional Singers, we now have three additional choirs – St Martin’s Voices, Children’s Voices and St Martin’s Chorus.

Over the past two years we have grown our in-house concert output from a handful of performances each year to over thirty in 2016, under the Sound of St Martin’s banner. Eighteen months ago we launched our ground-breaking Great Sacred Music series, which has recently been extended into a podcasting and webcasting project, supported by the Jerusalem Trust. A new collaboration with the BBC means that we are broadcasting Radio 4 Daily Service monthly from St Martin’s.
