St Martin’s Chorus is the newest choir at St Martin-in-the-Fields, founded in April 2015 and numbering around thirty singers.
It is an engaging and aspirational chamber choir, drawing from a pool of around thirty singers, that performs both major choral works and more intimate, small-scale works. In their opening season the Chorus performed Haydn’s Theresienmesse, Mozart’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Whitacre’s Cloudburst. Highlights of 2015-16 include Rachmaninov Vespers, Handel Dixit Dominus and Brahms Requiem.
“I thought it would be a fantastic way to perform regularly and a great opportunity to meet new people. It really has been – St Martin’s is full of entertaining people, great people to talk to, and I’ve made some good friends. I enjoy the variety of repertoire that we do with Chorus and I’m really looking forward to our next project” Frank St John, December 2015
