Getting to St Martin’s during the Tube strikes

News St Martin – Talking Points

Friday 25 April 2014

The RMT Union is planning a 48 hour strike across the London Underground network from 9.30pm on the evening of Monday 28 April, with services returning to normal on Thursday 1 May.

There are still a number of routes you can take to St Martin’s during the strike, but please allow extra time for your journey.

TfL have published a list of tube services they hope the run, but please check before you travel. Charing Cross station is expected to be open on the Bakerloo line (but not Northern). Other nearby stations include Embankment (District Line, 5 minute walk) and Waterloo (Jubilee Line, 12-15 minute walk).

A large number of buses serve Trafalgar Square. See this map from TfL for a list of bus routes travelling to and from the Square.

If you wish to drive, you can find a list of nearby car parks on our Getting Here page. Please note St Martin-in-the-Fields is inside the Congestion Zone, in effect from 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Fridays.

If you’re coming from further afield, St Martin’s is a 12-15 minute walk across the river from Waterloo station, and a frequent bus service runs from Waterloo, Victoria, Paddington, Cannon Street, Blackfriars, Marylebone, Liverpool Street, Euston and King’s Cross.

Please check your journey on the day with TfL’s Journey Planner. This tool will give estimated journey times, but we still recommend giving extra time as transport links may be overcrowded.
