Getting to St Martin’s during the Tube strikes

News St Martin – Talking Points

Monday 3 February 2014

The RMT and TSSA Unions are planning two sets of 48 hour strikes across the London Underground network at the following times:

  • Around 9.30pm on Tuesday 4 February until the morning of Friday 7 February; and,
  • Around 9.30pm on Tuesday 11 February until the morning of Friday 14 February.

There are a number of other routes you can take to St Martin’s, but please allow extra time for your journey.

TfL have published a list of tube services they hope the run, advising that they plan to open Charing Cross tube station with limited services on the Bakerloo and Northern lines. Leicester Square will likely be closed. Please check before you travel. Other nearby stations include Embankment (5 minute walk) and Waterloo (12-15 minute walk).

A large number of buses serve Trafalgar Square. See this map from TfL for a list of bus routes travelling to and from the Square.

If you wish to drive, you can find a list of nearby car parks on our Getting Here page. Please note St Martin-in-the-Fields is inside the Congestion Zone, in effect from 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Fridays.

If you’re coming from further afield, St Martin’s is a 12-15 minute walk across the river from Waterloo station, and a frequent bus service runs from Waterloo, Victoria, Paddington, Cannon Street, Blackfriars, Marylebone, Liverpool Street, Euston and King’s Cross.

Please check your journey on the day with TfL’s Journey Planner. This tool will give estimated journey times, but we still recommend giving extra time as transport links may be overcrowded.
