After an incredible performance by three ensembles in the final of the Chamber Music Competition 2013, the Jubilee Quartet were named as the overall winners.

The A Piacere Piano Trio won the audience prize, while the Palomino String Quartet also gave an outstanding performance.

In a night featuring a diverse programme of works by Haydn, Britten, Shostakovich, Piazzolla and Mendelssohn, the three ensembles were competing for a series of professional engagements across the UK organised through the Making Music network.

Andrew Earis, Director of Music at St Martin-in-the-Fields, said:

“At this stage in a young musician’s career, a series of professional engagements can mean so much in helping to establish an ensembles reputation and get their names known to a wider audience. We’re delighted to have been able to award this opportunity to the Jubilee Quartet.

“We have no doubt they will continue to amaze audiences as they did in last night’s final, and everyone at St Martin’s is really looking forward to seeing where their careers take them from here.”
