Today/Living the Questions evolves Living the Questions continues with our aim of giving people a place to bring their questions about the Christian faith and their spiritual experience, meeting after coffee, at 12.15 in the Austen Williams Room, 6 St Martin’s Place. This week/Ash Wednesday/13 February Morning Prayer will be followed by 8.30am Eucharist with the Imposition of Ashes. There will be a Choral Eucharist at 1pm and Sung Eucharist at 6.30pm. Both these services will include the Imposition of Ashes.

This week/A Theology of Everyday Things: Thursdays 1.00pm Continuing this week, our Lunchbreak service reaches out to the many people who work around St Martin’s during the week. This year Revd Will Morris is leading three ten-week series of talks on a ‘Theology of Everyday Things’. Please pick up a flyer with more details at the back of Church.

This week/There will be a memorial service for the family and friends of Lydia Evans Lloyd in the Dick Sheppard Chapel on Thursday 14 February at 3.00pm. Her husband David wishes to extend an invitation to his friends at St Martin’s.

This week/The funeral of Bridget Richmond who was a member of St Martin’s for many years and founded the International Club, will take place at St Martin-in-the-Fields on Saturday 16 February at 12noon. All are welcome to join us as we give thanks for her life.

Lent at St Martin’s This Lent in our 10.00am Eucharist the preachers will explore our Lent theme Power and Passion. In our 6.30pm Evening Services, members of St Martin’s Community share their reflections and experiences on The Cross, Jesus and Me.

Lent Study Course 2013 will take place at St Martin-in-the-Fields each Monday night during Lent from Monday 18 February-25 March. The theme is Power and Passion: Six Characters in Search of Resurrection, based on Sam Wells’ book which was chosen as The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent Book in 2007. Flyers are available in church. Please fill in an application and return as soon as possible, together with £12 which covers the cost of the book. All are welcome.

The Meditation Group meets next in the DSC on Weds 20 February at 7.00pm.

Silent Retreat Weekend, 1-3 March at the Sisters of St Andrew, Eden Hall, Edenbridge. This Ignatian style accompanied retreat will follow the journey of Call, Revelation, Wilderness and New Life, and give the opportunity for participants to meet twice with a member of the clergy team to be accompanied in their journey over the weekend. The retreat and reflections will be led by the Revd Richard Carter, Revd Katherine Hedderly and Revd David Jackson. Places are limited. Please fill in the application form available in church or from the clergy team and return to Elinor Newman in the parish office.

Quiet Day/Sacred Space in the City/Saturday 16 March 10am-4pm A day to explore sacred space in the heart of the city here St Martin’s. Please give your name to Katherine Hedderly if you would like to attend by emailing or by telephone 020 7766 1102. Places limited to 25. A simple lunch will be provided. Cost £5.

The memorial service for Margaret Clark, a much loved member of our congregation, will be held at St Martin’s on Saturday 11 May at 11am. All are warmly invited to come and join with Margaret’s family and friends as we give thanks for her life.

Confirmation at St Martin’s The Bishop of London, the Right Revd Richard Chartres, will preside at this year’s service of confirmation on Sunday 2 June. Classes will take place on Sunday mornings 12noon–1pm on the following dates: 10, 17, 24 March, 14, 28 April, 12, 26 May with a rehearsal on Saturday 1 June at 10.00am. Electoral Roll Under the Church Representation Rules, we are required to form a new Electoral Roll in 2013 (as part of the 6 year cycle which the rules specify). Everyone who wishes to be included on the new Roll, whether they are on the present Roll or not, must complete an application form by Sunday 10 March at the latest. Application forms will be available outside the Hall after the 10am Eucharist, or from the back of the church. You can also obtain a form from the Vergers at other times or from the Parish Office (020 7766 1100), or from the Electoral Roll officer ( To be on the Electoral Roll, you have to be aged 16 or over, a baptised member of the Church of England (or a church in communion with it) and be resident in the parish or have worshipped here regularly for the last 6 months. Only those who are on the electoral roll are entitled to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting, which this year takes place on 21 April.

New Parish Pipeline So much happens at St Martin-in-the-Fields that we thought we could do more to let you know about it. So from now on we’ll be sending out a short Parish Pipeline email once a week, featuring details of services, news from the congregation or reflections from the clergy team. On Thursday 14 February, the priests and people of St Martin-in-the-Fields will be prayed for in St Paul’s Cathedral, during their daily worship.
