Crèche at St Martin’s For the 0-4 age group, with trained childcare leaders, takes place in the Austen Williams Room on the following Sundays: 23 Feb, 9, 23 March. Please ask a steward to show you where to go. Parents are invited to drop off children by 10am and collect after the service, or of course stay for part of the session.
Sunday 23 February, Living the Questions continues with ‘Genesis: Exploring Two Different Stories of Creation.’ This DVD-based open discussion group brings our questions to the Christian tradition and explores how to live faithfully into the answers. Each session (12.15-1.45pm, Austen Williams Room) comprises a 20 minute video followed by sharing in groups. Try out an individual session (once every two weeks), or join us for the whole series. This year’s Lent Course takes place each Monday evening in Lent: 10, 17, 24, 31 March, 6, 14 April from 7.00pm-8.30pm, using Gerard Hughes’ Spiritual classic “God of Surprises” as our guide. Inspired by St Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises, this will be a journey of prayer and imaginative contemplation with listening groups to share with one another. On Monday 10 March the introduction to the course will be given by David Birchall SJ the director of the Jesuit Spirituality Centre, St Beunos. Flyers are available or at the back of the church for registration. The cost of the course is £15.
14-16 March/The Silent Retreat “Be Still and know that I am God” will take place at the Retreat House, Pleshey, near Chelmsford, led by Revd Katherine Hedderly. This Ignatian style retreat, using passages of scripture, and reflective exercises, will follow the natural cycle that we can discover in our own lives with God. What do we wish to give thanks for and harvest, what has begun but needs to be nurtured and grown, what can be laid to rest and let go, and where is new life to be found? Confirmation at St Martin’s The Bishop of London, the Right Revd Richard Chartres, will preside at this year’s service of confirmation on Sunday 1 June. Classes will take place on Sunday mornings 12noon–1pm on the following dates: 9, 23, 30 March, 13 April 4, 18 May with a rehearsal on Saturday 31 May at 10.00am. Classes for children and teens will take place starting today: 16 Feb; 2, 16 March; 27 April; 11, 25 May. Please keep all our candidates and teachers in your prayers! Facilities for those with disabilities For those with a hearing aid, it can be tuned into a loop system by setting it at T. Access via the ramp on the north side of the portico (St Martin’s Place). Large print hymnbooks, service books, and Parish Newsletters are available from the Stewards.

Security is an issue in any public space in central London. Please do keep your handbags/valuables where you can see them. If handbags are placed on the pew bench you do not have them in sight when you stand to sing a hymn!
