Advent and Christmas Services The full list of Advent and Christmas services is available in our whole site brochure for December, on our website and in the Parish Pipeline. Everyone on the electoral roll or parish list should have received a copy by e-mail; if not please e-mail Elinor Newman (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the Parish Office and copies are also available at the back of church. There will be no ticketing system for the capacity Christmas services: Nine Lessons and Carols, Community Carols and Parish Carols. We will be opening the doors at 5.30pm and as the church is often full do arrive in plenty of time to be certain of a seat.
Today/Malawi Christmas Stall This year the C-Club Christmas stall will be raising money for the building and furnishing of a new maternity ward for the health centre in Nkasala village, managed by St Luke’s Hospital. Please come prepared to buy cakes, christmas cards and gifts etc. Contributions are welcome. On Sundays 18 & 25 November Ann Roberts and Susannah Woodd will be taking orders for Christmas Cakes and specially made Malawi 2013 Calendars. Find them over coffee to place your order.

The 86th Radio 4 St Martin-in-the-Fields Christmas Appeal Thanks to all those who took part in the Radio 4 St Martin-in-the-Fields Christmas Appeal last week. It was a terrific effort and we are deeply grateful to all those who volunteered. Early signs are good but keep hoping, praying, encouraging and giving! There is an exhibition on the railings of our Church Path drawing attention to the life of homeless people. Downstairs in the Foyer an exhibition shows how the money raised is used building hope to help people change to their lives through The Connection at St Martin’s and the Vicar’s Relief Fund. You can make a donation online at www.smitf.org/christmas or by using the red Christmas Appeal envelopes, or write a message on a brick in the foyer and stick on our display.

Sunday 16 December There will be a short service of prayer for the blessing of the new altar in the Dick Sheppard Chapel after the 10.00am morning service. All will be very welcome to pray with Sam in the Light Well and Chapel itself.
There will be a Cake Stall after Sunday morning service, 16 December. It will be on behalf of the Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride which supports the work of the Connection at St Martin’s with homeless folk in Central London. Please bring or buy any cakes or pastries you can! Roger Shaljean

Twirties Weekend, 11-13 January 2013: ‘Here I am, Lord: responding to God’s call as a community’ to be held at the Emmaus Centre, West Wickham, Kent. Brother Vaughan SSF from the Franciscan community in East London will be joining us to share his own community’s experience of living out the call of faith in the world. Led by Revd Katherine Hedderly with members of the Twirties group. A lovely weekend, in beautiful countryside with a chance to make friends and explore our faith together. Living the Questions evolves Living the Questions continues in January with our aim of giving people a place to bring their questions about the Christian faith and their spiritual experience, meeting after coffee, at 12.15 in the Austen Williams Room, 6 St Martin’s Place. As usual, there will be a dvd followed by discussion groups, and next term we will continue to use the new dvd materials. Next term’s dates: 13, 20 Jan, 10, 17, 24 Feb, 10, 17 Mar.
