News St Martin – Talking Points

Monday 3 December 2012

Come and see the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields perform in Trafalgar Square at during very special events this December.

In a tradition dating back to 1947, each year the city of Oslo gift a Christmas tree to the people of London. From 6.00pm on Thursday 6 December join the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields singing carols around the tree at the Lighting of the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree.

Then at 5.30pm on Sunday 9 December, the Choir and Clergy of St Martin-in-the-Fields are joined by the Salvation Army Band for the Blessing of the Crib in Trafalgar Square.  The crib is designed by Tomoaki Suzuki with figures inspired by Londoners from around the world.

Don’t forget two special concerts happening at St Martin-in-the-Fields on Friday 7 December to celebrate the arrival of the Oslo Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square. At 1.00pm and 7.30pm you can hear Tine Tine Thing Helseth (trumpet), Vilde Frang (violin) and Michail Lifits (piano) perform a feast of Nordic and Christmas music within the spectacular surroundings of our eighteenth century church.
