“The entire Bible story is the story of creation and its frequent detours – sometimes careless, sometimes wilful – from the path of “perfection”. God’s child, humanity, careens off course almost immediately in the form of Adam and Eve. But it’s in the story of the chosen people, God’s child, Israel, that we see the fragility of infancy become the tantrums of a toddler, the fantasies of a child, the wilfulness of a teenager, the recklessness of a young adult. In the desert, in the promised land, in the holy city Jerusalem, Israel is always veering off course.”

A service from Revd Will Morris, delivered on the Fourth Sunday of Lent/Mothering Sunday.

Readings for this service:  1 Samuel 1. 20-end, Col. 3. 12-17, Luke 2. 33-35
