Family fun at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square
Start off the new year with some family fun at St Martin-in-the-Fields. With its Trafalgar Square location, welcoming atmosphere and value for money food, shopping and events, St Martin-in-the-Fields is the ideal family venue during the school holidays and all year round.
Mini Maestro Family Concerts
The Mini Maestro family concerts are a fantastic way to introduce children from 4-12 years to classical music. London Musical Arts uses creativity, storytelling and games to convey this magnificent art-form. These concerts take place throughout the year and feature hands-on exploration of some of the most popular classical music. There are opportunities for sitting in the orchestra, conducting, beating the drums and clapping, game playing and singing along. As well as a chance to hear the instruments up-close, as the friendly musicians go ‘walkabout’ in the audience. It’s a journey of discovery, imagination and inspiration: creative, educational and fun.
The next Mini Maestro concert takes place on Saturday 25 January at 4.30pm. Take a whirlwind tour of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the musicians creating the sounds of barking dogs, chattering birds, raging storms and all the glories of nature. While on Saturday 22 February at 4.30pm come and explore Mozart’s emotionally-charged Symphony N0 40. Mini Maestro tickets priced £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for under 16s are available from the box office – online at www.smitf.org and telephone 020 7766 1100.
’What a beautiful and informal way to introduce children (and adults!) to music.’
