Building Futures Endowment
Do you know that we spend at least £100,000 each year on the upkeep of our historic buildings?
On top of the £800,000 it costs to open our church to 750,000 visitors each year?
The Building Futures Endowment Campaign will help us to preserve our buildings and all we achieve here.
By investing an initial capital sum of £4.5million, we will generate interest to meet the regular repairs and periodic larger projects as required. Carrying out regular and careful maintenance work will help ensure that the fabric is maintained to a high standard. It will also release extra energy into an organisation which is already doing so much good.
The Building Futures Endowment Campaign is about keeping our buildings as beautiful as they are; but equally it is about ensuring that the demands of the exquisite building do not hold back the potential of the even more exciting activities within and beyond it.
The Endowment Fund has been started with the help of a Heritage Lottery Fund/DCMS Catalyst Endowment award and a generous individual donor and his family.
Both have offered us £1million, as a challenge to raise the money to match their awards.
This is a compelling proposition for St Martin’s and for our supporters, as each £1 is worth £4 by the time a gift has been matched, first by our individual donors, then when both donations have been matched by the HLF/DCMS award.
We have already raised over £1m. With this sum invested and fundraising ongoing, we are building towards our £4.5m target.
We need to raise the remainder by June 2016.
If St Martin’s holds a special affection for you, please help us to insure our future with a contribution to the endowment, either now or by leaving a legacy. Don’t forget: your gift will be matched!
