Performers
New Zealand baritone, Julien Van Mellaerts, has recently graduated from the RCM International Opera School where he was a Fishmongers Scholar supported by a Toeman Weinberger Award. Earlier this year, Julien won first place in the 2017 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.
Upcoming performances include Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with East Anglia Chamber Orchestra, and City of Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, Mozart Vespers at Snape Maltings, recitals at London Song Festival, and Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn with Julius Drake at Fundaciòn Juan March in Madrid. This summer Julien has been performing the role of Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola with Diva Opera on tour, as well as performing at the Verbier Festival as part of the Lieder/Art Song academy with Thomas Quasthoff and Thomas Hampson.

After gaining a degree in Mathematics at Imperial College London, Gamal Khamiscompleted his formal musical education at the Royal College of Music, and has since performed as a soloist and chamber musician across Europe and North America.
Gamal has won major prizes at the Norah Sande, ESO Young Soloist and Christopher Duke piano competitions, as well the Award for Accompanists at the 2017 ROSL competition and the Help Musicians UK Accompanist’s Prize at the 2017 Ferrier Awards. He has performed concertos across England and is a Concordia Foundation Artist, a Park Lane Group Artist, and a founding member of the Lipatti Piano Quartet, winner of the Elias Fawcett Trust Award at the 2016 ROSL competition.
This year he made his debut at the Marryat Players Chamber Music Festival, Flatirons Chamber Music Festival in Colorado and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as returning to the Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark and IMS Prussia Cove Master Classes.
