He is a graduate of the Royal College of Music and Imperial College, London, and holds a PhD from the University of Manchester. In addition to his duties at St Martin’s, Andrew is a regular contributor to BBC Radio’s religious output as a producer of programmes including Radio 4 Sunday Worship and Radio 3 Choral Evensong.

They sing for concerts, broadcasts and special services at St Martin’s and beyond, perform alongside the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, London Mozart Players, Southbank Sinfonia and Will Todd Ensemble, and have toured to the USA and South Africa. They regularly feature in BBC broadcasts including Radio 3 Choral Evensong and Radio 4 Sunday Worship. In response to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, St Martin’s Voices have extended their digital recording projects, sharing regular online Great Sacred Music and concerts, as well as featuring in the Church of England online worship resources that have attracted more than 1 million downloads across digital platforms.

St Martin’s Voices is a professional vocal ensemble, primarily made up of talented past and present choral scholars who come together to sing world-class concerts and special services at St Martin-in-the-Fields and beyond.

Recent concerts at St Martin’s have included Bach MotetsSt John Passion and Magnificat, Haydn Nelson Mass, Handel Messiah and Utrecht Te Deum and Mozart Requiem. In their opening season, St Martin’s Voices performed the World Première of The Lantern Carols by Sasha Johnson Manning and Sharon Grenham-Toze. In January 2014, they performed Annelies: A Choral Setting of the Diary of Anne Frank by James Whitbourn for Holocaust Memorial Day. Other recent concerts have included A Celebration of William Lloyd Webber, with renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber.

In May 2015, they were privileged to perform at the Cenotaph for the 70th anniversary of VE day, and this was followed by singing for the VJ day commemorations in August 2015, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen, and broadcast live on BBC 1.

St Martin’s Voices regularly broadcast on the BBC, including Radio 3 Choral Evensong, Radio 4 Daily Service, and most recently they recorded a Sunday Worship programme for BBC Radio 4 from the Chapel of Lambeth Palace in the presence of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Performers

The Children’s Voices of St Martin-in-the-Fields was formed in 2014 and has quickly become an integral part of the St Martin-in-the-Fields musical community. The choir for 7 to 13 year olds regularly enhances our music-making at church services and concerts.

St Martin’s Chorus is the newest choir at St Martin-in-the-Fields. It is an engaging and aspirational chamber choir, drawing from a pool of around thirty singers, performing both major choral works and more intimate, small-scale works. Recent concerts include Mendelssohn Elijah, Brahms Requiem, Rachmaninov Vespers and Copland In the Beginning.
