Performer
Pianist Sarah Soyeon Kim attracts the highest of praise for her artistic calibre. She combines phenomenal virtuosity with interpretative integrity, and unites the utmost sensitivity for tonal colour with a huge capacity for expression. A happy synthesis is struck between her supreme respect for the music and its seemingly effortless rendition. Sarah Soyeon Kim has an enormous repertoire at her fingertips.
She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Ecole Normale in Paris, and completed her solo studies in Soloklasse at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, where she teaches piano major students as an assistant to Prof. Bernd Goetzke since 2013.
She has won top prizes in numerous international piano competitions, including Ettlingen, Paris (Grand Prix Animato), Epinal, Rhodes, Tunbridge Wells, Birmingham, Valencia (Jose Iturbi), Pinerolo and Vienna (Beethoven competition).
Solo engagements have taken her to such venues as the Berlin Philharmonie, London’s Southbank Centre and National Portrait Gallery, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Meistersingerhalle in Nürnberg, Salle Cortot in Paris, Palau de la Musica in Valencia, and the Musikverein in Vienna.
She recently has made a CD recording of Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto with
Göttingen Symphony Orchestra. Her next recording projects include Liszt’s opera transcriptions with Naxos label.
