Performing at St Martin-in-the-Fields

Music St Martin – Performing at St Martin-in-the-Fields - Play a part in history

With its superb acoustics, vibrant history and beautiful setting, St Martin-in-the-Fields is a highly sought after performance space for both our evening and lunchtime concerts, as well as singers looking to join our choirs.

Lunchtime Concerts

The Lunchtime Concert Series gives musicians the opportunity to perform in a professional environment to a large and appreciative audience. Concerts, every Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 1.00pm, feature a refreshing range of performers and repertoire.  The concerts are free for all, but a suggested audience donation of £3.50 is greatly appreciated to help fund all aspects of the series and work at St Martin’s.

Applications for Lunchtime Concerts in 2015 are now closed.  Application forms for the 2016 series will be available to download in September. Speculative enquiries will not be considered.

Evening Concerts

Evening Concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields are an unforgettable experience; you will find a warm and vibrant acoustic which is brought to life by the superb performances which take place most Tuesdays and every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The atmosphere of these concerts is always changing as we benefit from a loyal core audience and a large number of first time visitors who are aware of St Martin’s international reputation.

Please note that applications for evening concerts are closed for 2014 and 2015, however if you are interested in hiring St Martin’s for a concert in the future, an application form for concerts in 2016 will be available to download shortly.

St Martin’s Embassy Series

Launching in 2014,  St Martin’s Embassy Series is a celebration of St Martin-in-the-Field’s reputation as an international church, and as a world-famous concert venue, located in the heart of cultural London.

As part of the Lunchtime Concert Series, St Martin’s Embassy Series will run once a month (on every third Tuesday), and is open to international performers recommended by their embassy in the United Kingdom.

For more information on how you can perform within the series, or how you can recommend a performer to us, please email music@smitf.org.

Choirs of St Martin-in-the-Fields

Occasional places arise in the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields for regular and occasional members. The weekly commitments are two Sunday services (Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong) and Wednesday evening rehearsals. In addition, there are regular opportunities for concerts and broadcasts, as well as singing at occasional (paid) special services.

To enquire about an audition, please email churchmusic@smitf.org.

Auditions for the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields are held once a year, with applications opening at the end of March. Please check this page for updates.

Please email Alice at choir@smitf.org for details of how to audition for Children’s Voices of St Martin-in-the-Fields

All are welcome to join in the Occasional Singers who sing one or two services a term at St Martin’s. Please contact churchmusic@smitf.org for information.

Visiting choirs

At times when the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields is not available, services in the church may be sung by other choirs, subject to approval by the Director of Music.

During holiday times (Christmas, Easter and August) we are seeking visiting choirs to sing the 10am Parish Eucharist (anthem, motet, and congregational Mass setting) and 5pm Choral Evensong (responses, psalm, canticles and anthem).

During choir terms there are occasional opportunities to sing for services on Sundays. In the first part of 2014, we can accommodate Visiting Choirs on the following dates:

04 May 2014
08 June 2014

If you are interested in bringing a choir to St Martin-in-the-Fields, please contact us on churchmusic@smitf.org with your enquiry. We may ask choirs to send a recent recording of appropriate Eucharist or Evensong material before we make a firm booking.

Please be aware that due to limited space in our stalls we can accommodate a maximum choir size of 30 people.
