Beethoven Cycle: Symphony No. 1 and Mass in C major
Monday 13 May 2024
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
The Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras begin their Beethoven cycle at the very beginning – plus a rare performance of the mighty Mass in C major.
From the anarchic chords that open his First Symphony, the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven are acts of revolution – but they’re rooted in tradition, too. There’s only one way to begin this journey, after all, and the Monteverdi Choir and four superb soloists have coupled the symphony with the Mass in C as they lift their voices towards Beethoven’s very personal vision of heaven.
