Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Federico Colli
Thursday 25 July 2024
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, written in 1785 during his time in Vienna, was premiered by the composer as soloist in one of his very popular concerts featuring his new pieces. A contrasting work to his dramatic D minor concerto (No. 20) written earlier that year, the C major concerto is filled with exuberant and joyous music, yet still has beautiful and poignant moments such as the nocturnal second movement. In the hands of Italian pianist imaginative Mozart-interpreter Federico Colli, expect fireworks in the finale of this great concerto!
