Paddington Trio
Friday 11 July 2025
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Paddington Trio’s programme explores a wide range of colours and moods, opening with Grieg’s Andante con moto in C minor. Though rarely performed, it is a poignant and expressive work that reveals the composer’s gift for lyrical melody and rich harmonic writing. Andrea Tarrodi born in 1981, is a Swedish composer based in Stockholm. Her works, including Akacia performed in today’s concert, have been performed at several venues both in Sweden and abroad, among them the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms in 2017. The Paddington Trio close with Ravel’s masterly Piano Trio – the blending of both a skilfully crafted structure and the indescribably fresh voice of Ravel and a new musical era.
