Performers

Born in Wales in 1993, Gabriella began harp, flute and violin lessons age 13.  As principal of the Greater Gwent Symphony Orchestra which she had the opportunity to play at the Royal Albert Hall, tour Poland and Germany, and make her concerto debut aged 16 at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Gabriella Jones has received masterclasses from Anneleen Lenearts, Marisa Robles, Elizabeth Fontaine-Binoche, Helga Stock, and Sioned Williams.  Since 2012, Gabriella has played as principal with several London based orchestras; Melos Sinfonia in St John’s Smith Square, Aleph Orchestra, London Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, and Philharmonia Brittanica.  Gabriella has played under the many of the world’s leading conductors including Antonio Pappano, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and Yan Pascal Tortelier.  Gabriella is passionate about opera and has recently performed Britten’s Albert Herring, with Opera de Baugé. Gabriella is generously supported in her studies by the Laura Ashley Foundation.

Born in Badajoz, Spain, Juan Antonio started to learn piano at the age of 6, and harp at the age of 8. He studied for his Bachelor’s degree in Zaragoza with the teachers Gloria Martinez and Tiziana Tagliani. During these years, Juan Antonio also received Chamber Music coaching from teachers including Kennedy Moretti and the members of the acclaimed Quiroga Quartet. In December 2013 he was appointed to play A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten during the Sacred Music Festival of Zaragoza, and in February 2014 he won the 4th edition of the Isolda Chamber Music Competition held in Madrid. He also received training in contemporary music under the direction of conductor Nacho de Paz. Juan is currently in his last year of a Masters’ course at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of London with Gabriella Dall’Olio and Frances Kelly. During this time has been working on orchestral and solo repertoire with Heidi Krutzen, Rachel Masters, Sylvain Blassel, Fabrice Pierre and Marie Pierre Langlamet among others.

During the last two years, Juan Antonio has been part of four different youth orchestras, which have allowed him to work with some of the most important conductors of Spain and Europe such as Victor Pablo Perez, Cesar Alvarez, George Pehlivanian, Lutz Kohler and Lorenzo Viotti. Since March 2015 he was appointed Principal Harp of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, completing several tours of Spain, Portugal and Italy. From March 2016, he became Principal Harp of the Extremadura Youth Orchestra, and in March 2016 he took part with the orchestra in the Al Bustan Festival in Lebanon, Beirut, under the direction of Gianluca Marcianò. He was a finalist in the soloist competition of this orchestra, and will play a solo recital in November 2017 as part of the activities organised by Extremadura Symphony Orchestra. He has won a reserve place in the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester for the last two consecutive years. In April of this year, Juan made his debut in a professional orchestra playing with Castilla y Leon Symphony Orchestra under the direction of  Andrew Gourlay and the mezzosoprano Stéphanie d’Oustrac in Valladolid.

Future projects include solo recitals in London and the premiere in Spain of Black Box Music by Simon Steen-Andersen during the Contemporary Music Festival of Badajoz.
