A Gospel Celebration for Epiphany

Saturday 06 January 2024

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The premiere of a new work written and performed by award-winning screenwriter, novelist and occasional actor Frank Cottrell Boyce (2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, Welcome to Sarajevo, The Railway Man) with St Martin’s regulars Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir. With a sizzling synthesis of dialogue and gospel music let Frank and Soul Sanctuary draw you into the Epiphany, the strange and gripping story of veneration – of the three Wise Men of the infant Jesus in Bethlehem, and extermination – the flight of his family for their lives to Egypt.

This piece is dedicated by Frank and Soul Sanctuary to the St Vincent de Paul Society, which tackles poverty by providing practical assistance to people in need, in aid of whom there will be a retiring collection at the end of the performance.

“[Frank Cottrell Boyce is] one of the few truly inventive modern-day screenwriters” Roger Ebert (1942 – 2013)

“Soul Sanctuary are just amazing…the spirit they have when they’re singing…” Mica Paris, December 2020
