Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Timothy Ridout
Thursday 26 June 2025
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
A concert showcasing the virtuoso viola soloist and ‘terrifically talented’ The Times Timothy Ridout, former BBC New Generation Artist and stellar soloist and chamber musician, with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields directed by Tomo Keller.
Hummel’s Potpourri mit Fantasie, an acoustical bouquet, written in 1820 borrows popular melodies of the time from Mozart and Rossini, woven together by Hummel into a brilliant fantasy showcase for viola and Ridout’s ’24-carat dark-gold tone’ The Arts Desk. Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante will pair Ridout’s viola with the violin of our director/leader, Tomo Keller, in one of Mozart’s most iconic works.
