Friday 08 March 2024

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Carolyn Craig, the 2023/2024 Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey, performs an insightful programme of organ music by women composers. Amongst others we hear from Jeanne Desmiessieux, the first female organist to sign a record deal; Florence Price, who composed a huge wealth of music for the organ and most recently, Kerensa Briggs with her haunting Light in Darkness.

Demessieux – Te Deum
Boulanger – Improvisation
Cecilia McDowall – First Flight
Kerensa Briggs – Light in Darkness
Rachel Laurin – Bagatelle Burlesque
Ennio Morricone, arr. Mark McGurty, adapted for organ by Wilma Jensen – Gabriel’s Oboe
Price – First Sonata for Organ
