Cordelia Williams: piano
Friday 28 June 2024
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
There is something for everyone in this eclectic programme spanning 4 centuries. Thomas Tomkins wrote his “A Sad Pavan for These Distracted Times” in 1649 as an outpouring of his feelings about a time of uncertainty in the country – a situation that feels just as relevant today, 375 years later. So how better to complement this than with Bill Evans’s Peace Piece.
Beethoven – Six Bagatelles
Scriabin – Sonata-Fantasie no. 2
Tomkins – A Sad Pavan for These Distracted Times
Bill Evans – Peace Piece
Schumann – Gesänge der Frühe (Songs of Dawn)
