Crypt Close-Ups: Ligeti Quartet – Black Angels and Anna Meredith
Tuesday 17 October 2023
8:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Grab a drink, get close-up to the artists and wander St Martin’s atmospheric crypt by candlelight for these informal gig nights.
This session features the genre-busting Ligeti Quartet in music from their new album Nuc, a collaboration with award-winning composer Anna Meredith. Alongside that is George Crumb’s iconic Black Angels, described as one of the scariest pieces of the 20th century, and listed by David Bowie as one of his favourite – ‘I heard this piece for the first time in the darkest time of my own 70s, and it scared the bejabbers out of me.’
