Gavin Bryars 80th: Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet & Sinking of the Titanic
Thursday 09 November 2023
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Since its creation in 1971, Gavin Bryars’ Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet has become an eloquent, understated, but hugely symbolic tribute to the spirit and optimism of people experiencing homelessness.
As part of the composer’s 80th birthday celebrations, performers from Streetwise Opera and The Choir with No Name join the Gavin Bryars Ensemble to perform this moving work, alongside solo slots and Bryars’ other iconic soundscape, The Sinking of the Titanic.
Streetwise Opera enable people who’ve experienced homelessness to find inspiration and empowerment while they rebuild their lives and identities. The Choir with No Name successfully run choirs and build joyful communities with homeless and marginalised people across their six choirs in Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Brighton, Cardiff and Coventry.
