Geirþrúður Guðmundsdóttir and Antoine Préat: Nordic Soundscapes
Friday 01 November 2024
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Brahms’ lyrical and dramatic “Cello Sonata in E minor” is at the core of this programme of music for the most expressive of stringed instruments. Beethoven’s Variations creatively transform a theme from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” while Sibelius’ music explores Scandinavian moods and landscapes. Geirþrúður and Antoine then stay with the Nordic for Jón Nordal’s “Pictures on a Panel Wall”, offering contemporary soundscapes from Geirþrúður’s native Iceland.
Beethoven – 7 Variations on ‘Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen’, WoO 46
Sibelius – Four Pieces, Op.78
Jón Nordal – Pictures on a Panel Wall
Brahms – Sonata for cello and piano in E minor, Op.38
Geirþrúður Guðmundsdóttir cello
Antoine Préat piano
