The Gesualdo Six: The Wishing Tree
Thursday 15 August 2024
7:30 pm - 8:45 pm
The perfect intimate summer programme: beautiful music from the roots of singing to the flowering of the choral tradition, interwoven with settings of traditional folksongs and madrigals on seasonal themes of nature, birds – and summer romance.
The Gesualdo Six present an evening of some of the finest vocal ensemble works in a varied sequence that is sure to inspire and delight audiences. Musical settings old and new, expressive and lyrical, show that human feelings have stayed the same through the ages, and the sequence is tied together by skilful re-imaginings of traditional folk songs on seasonal themes.
“The Gesualdo Six are outstanding, shifting impeccably from renaissance polyphony to twenty-first century music.” Seen and Heard International
“Their sound seemed to float in mid-air before reaching the ears of the rapt audience… every line, every gorgeous texture was radiantly clear.” The Times
