Award-winning multi horn-playing and internationally recognized saxophonist Tony Kofi teams up with the ‘Organisation‘, featuring Pete Whittaker on Hammond organ, Pete Cater on drums and Simon Fernsby on guitar. The band performs a hard-hitting selection of jazz, blues, Latin, hard bop and post bop including rarely performed classics by the likes of George Russsell, Woody Herman and Duke Pearson and Joe Henderson.
Tony Kofi (saxophone)
Tony Kofi’s many accolades include Best instrumentalist at the 2008 BBC Jazz awards. Best ensemble at the 2005 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Radio 3 Jazz line up album of the year 2005 BBC Jazz awards and a MOBO nomination in 2008.
Pete Whittaker (Hammond Organ)
Pete Whittaker has been involved with several jazz projects including UK saxophonist Theo Travis’ “Double Talk” and guitarist John Etheridge’s “Blue Spirits”. Pete is also regular member of the Nigel Price Organ Trio.
Pete Cater (Drums)
Pete Cater is a natural self-taught drummer whose 30 plus year professional career includes the Pete Cater Big Band, the BBC Big Band, the Back to Basie Orchestra and performances with Arturo Sandoval, Charlie Byrd, Benny Carter, Buddy De Franco, Terry Gibbs, Al Cohn and singer/pianist Buddy Greco.
Simon Fernsby (Guitar)
Simon Fernsby has toured international and headlined such prestigious venues as The Royal Albert Hall, the Forum, Paris Olympia, the Whiskey a go go and the Universal Amphitheatre Los Angeles. He has worked with Dave Windross, Gary Baldwin, Roger Beaujolais, Sam Gambarini, Gareth Lockrane, Bob Martin, Steve Fishwick, Jim Hart, Alex Garnett and Dave O’Higgins.
