A message from Dr Sam Wells

We are all shocked and grieved by the events in Ukraine and its neighbours. St Martin-in-the-Fields has a long heritage of standing alongside refugees.

Many people, including my mother and grandparents, have come to London in the last century fleeing persecution or conflict. Our community is enriched and enlivened by them. Now a new influx is set to challenge us to turn open hearts into open doors.

During the pandemic at St Martin’s we turned to our community to help us through some of our most difficult times. Our friends were generous in their support. We now want to rally round as a community and support others.

We are supporting two charities whose work is close to our hearts and who are working now to support people affected by this daunting humanitarian crisis.

We hope you will consider supporting them too.

USPG and the Diocese in Europe

USPG and the Diocese in Europe need your help as they support humanitarian work both in Ukraine and with refugees fleeing into neighbouring countries. Churches and agencies are already responding to the crisis in Ukraine.

This appeal will provide critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of people in Ukraine as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery there.

DePaul International

DePaul International is raising money for DePaul Ukraine’s life-saving work supporting homeless and displaced people.

It is currently on the front line, supporting people experiencing homelessness in Ukraine while monitoring and responding to the ever-changing context.
