Jeneba Kanneh-Mason’s London debut recital

Tuesday 05 July 2022

7:30 pm - 8:50 pm

Following her stellar performance at the 2021 BBC Proms St Martin-in-the-Fields presents the debut London solo recital by the young British pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason.

No-one who cares about the future of classical music can have missed the buzz around the Kanneh-Mason family – and when Jeneba Kanneh-Mason made her BBC Proms debut in August last year, aged 19, it was clear that we were witnessing the emergence of another truly remarkable young artist, with The Observer praising her “deft and expressive” playing. St Martin-in-the-Fields is proud to present her debut London solo recital, with a programme (ranging from Bach to Scriabin) that demonstrates the full range of her virtuosity, as well as her insight, and which includes rarely-heard works by the forgotten English romantic Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

J S Bach – Prelude and Fugue in C sharp (from Well-Tempered Clavier Book One)
Mozart – Sonata in D K 576
Scriabin – Sonata No 2 in G sharp minor
Coleridge Taylor – Negro Melodies: ‘At the Dawn of Day’, ‘The Stones are Very Hard’, ‘Take Nabandji’, Impromptu No. 2 in B Minor
Liszt – Vallee D’Obermann
Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 in C sharp minor
