St Martin’s Voices: Songs of Farewell
Tuesday 14 November 2023
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Step into the beautiful surroundings of St Martin-in-the-Fields for an hour of choral music inspired by reflection and remembrance – including Parry’s Songs of Farewell.
In the week after Remembrance Sunday, a chance to step out of the city for an hour of music themed around reflection and remembrance from St Martin-in-the-Fields’s own resident choir, St Martin’s Voices. Parry’s Songs of Farewell are one of the most poignant – and best-loved – of English choral masterpieces. But as part of our Choral Discovery Concerts series, this is also a chance to encounter new, unexpected, but equally beautiful sounds: such as the music of Annabel Rooney, and Libby Larsen’s deeply moving homage to Emily Dickinson, By a Departing Light. The sounds are novel, but the emotions are eternal.
