The Sixteen: Messiah
Tuesday 05 December 2023
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Sing Hallelujah! Handel’s Messiah is infinitely more than just a British seasonal fixture – and The Sixteen is more than one of the world’s finest chamber choirs. Following their sell-out performance in December 2022, Harry Christophers and The Sixteen return to St Martin-in-the-Fields for an intimately-scaled, historically-informed performance, right here in a church that Handel knew well. Their landmark 2009 recording was acclaimed by The Daily Telegraph as “the most popular oratorio ever written, sung by…the most richly sonorous of the early music choirs”. But these are performers who always have something personal to say in a masterpiece that always has something new to offer.
