Church St Martin – Open and inclusive

Welcome to St Martin-in-the-Fields, a vibrant, open and inclusive church at the heart of London. With thriving English and Chinese speaking congregations, St Martin’s is a diverse community, with a rich life of worship and prayer, including our regular services, a stimulating education programme serving the wider Church, a commitment to social justice and international links around the world.

Music and the arts are celebrated here and are at the heart of our worship and welcome.

We seek through our sermons, our faith courses, our community life and pastoral care to make the Christian faith relevant and accessible for the world today.  As a community we are used to accepting paradox creatively.  Our aim is not to provide simple answers but to uphold one another in living with the questions, to seek the deeper truths, and to be a place of encounter between people and God.

Our ministry is rooted in the care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged.  Today that is expressed through our support of The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, working with those who are homeless in London, and through the help we give to those in need around the country through the Christmas Appeal.  The life and ministry of St Martin’s is supported and underpinned by an award-winning Café in the Crypt, a shop, a world-renowned concerts programme, and many other activities, that extend hospitality to over 700,000 visitors a year. St Martin’s is working in partnership with other churches, including St Stephen Walbrook in the City of London, through HeartEdge, a network of churches combining congregation, compassion, commerce and culture in their mission.

St Martin-in-the-Fields exists to honour God by being an open and inclusive church that enables people to question and discover for themselves the significance of Jesus Christ.
