Ex Cathedra: Christmas Music by Candlelight
Friday 12 | Monday 15 December
Chamber choir Ex Cathedra presents a candlelit sequence of Christmas music: a quietly beautiful celebration of mystery, wonder and the deep, still heart of this magical season.
Imagine a carol concert with a difference. In the deep, still darkness of St Martin-in-the-Fields, only candles pierce the winter twilight. And then, upon the silence, comes the luminous sound of a choir in harmony: familiar melodies, wondrous discoveries and readings to make you smile as well as reflect. Ex Cathedra’s Christmas concerts are both an undiscovered secret and a cherished tradition, unmistakably seasonal but aimed – in these fast and noisy times – at the still, quiet heart of the season; the mystery as well as the merriment.
Make your visit extra special by pre-booking a mince pie and a warming glass of Mulled Wine (hot chocolate and popcorn for the kids!); available when you book your tickets.
Programme includes:
WJ Kirkpatrick, arr. Willcocks Away in a manger
Peter Warlock Bethlehem Down
Liz Dilnot Johnson Gentle Flame
